Designing safe automations for high-stakes workflows
Automation only works when humans trust it. Use this checklist to keep control even when tasks run fast.
1. Start with a visible plan
A clear step-by-step plan makes it obvious what will happen. Shadowhand shows the plan before it runs.
2. Require explicit approvals
Add checkpoints so the operator can approve or edit high-impact steps.
3. Keep a durable audit trail
Logs should explain what happened, why it happened, and how to undo it.
4. Design for interruptions
Operators should be able to pause or stop a task without losing state.
5. Protect sensitive data
Local-first execution keeps secrets on the device and prevents accidental leaks.
